New Strain Of Ebola

From an email I just got:

Please pray for the team and people of Bundibugyio district, Uganda. A new strain of the Ebola virus is in the district.Yesterday, Tuesday, a Ugandan doctor who works with the team at the hospital, died. His name is Dr Jonah. This morning two more medical personnel have died, Joshua Kule, senior clinical officer, and Peluce, not sure of the spelling, who was the head nurse. Please pray for the families of these three, and for the devastation, fear and confusion it is causing in the district. CDC and WHO are getting resources to Bundibugyo. Pray that they would be able to limit the effects of the outbreak. Pray for sleep and for healthy immune systems for all the medical personnel still working with Ebola patients. Pray for Rosa, who is the nurse primarily working with the Ebola patients and for Dr Yeti, a WHO doctor, who is still seeing patients. For updates, and a photo of Dr Jonah go to Myhres' blog: http://paradoxuganda.blogspot.com/

Our church works a lot with World Harvest and we have missionaries in this area. Pray how you see fit, but I'd say the requests mentioned are good ones.

One Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest

So I woke up Saturday morning feeling like crap and the rest of the weekend the same. Chills, fever, coughing, the whole nine yards and so as my clever stab at a title (stab at a clever title?) may clue you in on, I have Captain Trips. I don't feel totally crappy and the doctor said that I looked a lot better than my test results should indicate that I would (did you get that?) and I don't have pneumonia (yet). As a result though he said that I should hang out at home the rest of the week. The bad news? I have to burn the rest of my sick time. The good news? I have the sick time to blow. Had this happened last year things would not have been so nice. I may see if I can work from home some to salvage a sick day or two. In any event you can pray for my family's health should you feel so inclined. Little ones + influenza = badness.

Health Issue

Someone very close to me is having some health issues. No prognosis yet and I don't want to give details until everyone in the family knows, but pray and contact me via email if you want info. Could be serious, could be nothing big. Won't know 'til Thursday at the earliest.

Health Issue - Update

The health issue I spoke of on Monday is my wife. She has a history of breast cancer in her family. So when she experieced some pain and swelling in that area she went to the doctor. She had mammogram on Monday and is having a biopsy this afternoon. We don't know if it's cancer. Should have some idea this afternoon. Please pray.

Life stuff.

Soooo, I feel the need to update the ol' bloggy-blog but don't have one solid thought. Thus you get the following.

- "Auditioned" for a part in The Metamor City Podcast. I had a couple of chapters recorded for a podcast novel of my own and sent him those.

- I will start posting said novel by this weekend and will do so weekly. Sunday seems to be a good day. Watch this space for updates.

- Speaking of updates there are none on my wifes condition. The wait, while not fatal, is certainly maddening. Keep praying.

- MCF has posted his second tier brackets and I made it. I'm going up against the Unseen Blogger an ultraconservative Catholic with whom I agree with rarely, but who generally makes interesting posts.

- I am officially addicted to Twitter. You should join. It doesn't hurt and doesn't change your personality... much.

- I love Jango

- You should really be reading Spitball Politics. It will make you smarter, better looking, and quite possibly liberal.

- Go buy Infected. It will make you cringe and laugh. Possibly at the same time.

That is all.
