Using scary ventriloquist dummies (any of them really).
Ranting about “the culture” and how sinful it is.
Using “cute” church signs.
“Reclaiming” ANYTHING.

This note is not telling you to stop doing any of these things (though if you did it wouldn’t hurt my feelings). It’s to tell you that I don’t think those things are doing anyone any good (not that God can’t use any of out attempts) and that there are better things you could be doing.

Feed the hungry.
Read the Bible.
Take someone out for a beverage of their choice and really talk (mostly listen).
Take your child fishing.
Start a blog.

Second of all if you’ll look over on my flickr sidebar you’ll see that I did indeed get my beer in the bottles. Once I’m sure they’re reasonably stable and am able to taste one I may be sending some out to the universe. Rhodester, Pat, and Ben I’m looking at you guys. Send me your addresses if you want one. Thirdly.you should try Festina Peche by Dogfish Head. It’s about as tart as any beer has a right to be. This is not a fru-fru fruity beer. It’s incredibly refreshing. It won’t be my go to summer beer since it ain’t cheap, but it’s well worth checking out. What is my go to summer beer? Well in years past it’s pretty much been Sam Adam’s Summer Ale, but I tried Shock Top by A-B (I know I know) and it is indeed worthy and inexpensive.

We’ll make it this week past. I’d have to say watching my kids climb rocks, discovering new ones to climb and announcing it with a hearty “Look, more rocks!” while we were at Pilot Mountain.
2) Whose car were you in last?
Mine.
3) When was the last time you kissed someone?
This morning, kissing each of my children in turn and finishing with the wife.
4) What color shirt are you wearing?
Black with orange and red flowers and paisley.

5) How long is your hair?
I’d say about 3/4s of an inch.
6) Last movie you saw?
Hot Fuzz!
7) Last thing you ate?
A chocolate “Cutie Pie”.
What was last thing you drank?
Coffee.

Sure.

Cell? On my M&M truck. Landline? Four feet away.

Ooooh. Don’t remember. I’m gonna say the local kid’s museum and it’s been at least a year.

To my house I guess that would be our landlord’s electrician to install a security light. Until then we were insecure.

Hate’s a mighty strong word. I’m gonna say Brussels Sprouts.

People in the hall. Sometimes I forget to queue up the next thing on my iPod after I sync it. There, NPR Shuffle.
16) If you could have one thing right now what would it be?
I could go all “Things don’t make you happy.” but I’d like a decent newer commuter vehicle with AC.
17) What are your favorite stores?
Those brick and mortar things? I’ll go with the local used bookstore, Ed McKay’s, and the local coffee shop, Krankies.
18) What makes you the happiest right now?
My kids, my wife, and learning to juggle three clubs.

Trying to get to sleep.
20) Are you left-handed?
My left hand is stupid. It causes most of my typos.
21) What’s for dinner tonight?
I rarely know the answer to that question, but my wife’s cooking so it must be good.

Ben.
24) When is the last time you were in a swimming pool?
Last summer. I haven’t been to the pool this summer. That’s amazing.

The grocery store, Harris Teeter specifically.

It’s there, so good.

My wedding band wasn’t cheap so I guess yeah. Expensive is subjective though.

29) What was the first thing you thought when you woke up this morning?
Coffee. While that may not be accurate it’s the closest thing to coherent thought I usually ever have.

Oh yes.
31) Who do you miss?
I’ll echo MCF and say my college buds. I see some of them but only rarely. I miss them all though, even the pains in the neck.

Feh. Kids and their fancy, shmancy social networks. In my day we had to stumble over people with similar interests. Then we’d have to apologize.
33) What was your favorite subject in school?
Study hall.
34) Do you have any talents?
I say writing. To do anything this badly for this long must take talent. Or possibly a masochistic streak.
35) Do you have any children?
Yup.
36) Did you take a nap today?
Nope.

Andy Griffith. He’s from where I went to High School and visited my music appreciation class.

Infamous.
39) Could you handle being in the military?
Now, maybe. Not so much when I was a kid. I hated authority.

Nope and don’t want to.

Yes and I’d like to go back. When I went it was with a high school group and it was very much a tour.

Yup and much like NY I’d like to experience it more freestyle.

I’ll go with customizing a pizza (adding veggies to a meat pizza from Wally World’s deli. I love to cook from scratch, but it doesn’t happen very often.

I don’t recall ever doing anything stupid with it.

Stomach virus towards the end of the last school year.

I reviewed an early screening of The List for Hollywood Jesus. It’s in limited release right now and if you’re in western NC you should check it out.
Technical Stew has been hopping. Pat and I have had our fourth podcast which you can get to over there.
There was no Religious Ride this weekend past. Aaron was bizzay and I took my oldest to see Surf’s Up. It was decent, basically North Shore with penguins. Later that night I went to see Knocked Up (oddly enough both movies end with Up and were screened in the same theater). It was nothing like North Shore. I haven’t laughed that hard since Forty Year Old Virgin. If you saw that and liked it then you’ve actually probably already seen this. If not, go see it. As I told someone today, it’s amazing that a movie so positively filthy has such a solid, real, and funny look at marriage, parenting, relationships, and pink eye.
There will be no Political Ride tonight. Okay now, stop crying. Nobody likes a whiner. Aaron has family in and I could use the night off. Speaking of off time, I’ll be going off the grid Fri-Wed, visiting my parents on the coast. I may be having a guest blogger or two pop in. That’s my hope. It would tickle me to death. I’m taking a copy of my novel for editing and perhaps a book. Oh and the kids and my wife will be coming along too.
So that’s it for now.
