Jesus is a Friend of Mine

Two things –

1)This song is real and apparently was recorded in the 80′s
B) It will be stuck in your head for a while.

Thanks extended to The Thinklings, I think.

There is no god. Wow, what an abomination. I suspect it was laughably bad to church kids during the encore performance, let alone today.

The lead guitarist really looks like he wants to let loose, but is keeping satan trapped in his loins where he should be.

And I would have guessed late 70′s, but I forget the time delay for things to crossover from secular to sacred.

Neither your video link or your vimeo link are working any more. This message pops up:

Now that you piqued my interest.

Um… for some reason I see Weird Al doing a polka version of this. That would be so great!

  • Scott

    Yes… yes it would.

I hate you so much right now ;)

When I was in Elementary School, there was a girl in my class that used to sing this song all the time. Do you know what it’s like to hear the same song over and over again? Its a wonder we didn’t duct tape her to the flagpole or something.

Great, now I’m going to have this song stuck in my head all day.

Oh a side note, I love these old community access shows from back in the day. Everything screams 80′s!!

  • Scott

Heh. I had to share the love. My favorite line? Jesus is a “mountie”. The idea of the Christ in a red jacket with one of those little hats… If I had ANY art skills whatsoever.
And yeah the clothes are grrrrreat.

I think I found the new theme sound for my podcast. That was more awesome than I can describe!

You know, the weird thing is, I came back to this specific post for another listen tonight. I think it’s the way the lead singer does that slight head-shake that draws me in. I’m repulsed but I can’t stop watching.
I think you’ve discovered the “praise chorus” version of heroin.
