My Personal Favorites of 2007

I’m getting my year in review posted at another blog which I will link to next week, so instead I shall ste ahem borrow an idea from Strange Culture and so I present My Personal Favorites of 2007.


Favorite 2007-released movie, so far: I don’t see many movies in the theater. That’s truly unfortunate, but there you have it. I think I’ll have to go with 3:10 to Yuma. It was a truly great western and an all around good flick. Hot Fuzz comes reeeeeally close.
Favorite non-2007 movies seen for the first time this past year: Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), Children of Men (2006)
Favorite Books I’ve read this year: World War Z and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
Favorite TV Shows to Watch: House, Good Eats
Favorite Song: “War Inside” by Todd Agnew
Favorite New CD: Better Questions by Todd Agnew
Favorite Podcast: 7th Son by JC Hutchins, Escape Pod
Favorite Webcomic: Order of the Stick

    I did not enjoy the Better Questions CD at all! I'm glad you liked it, Agnew sounded so gruff and scratchy. It's certainly not my style. (Although I like the lyrics to many of the songs)
  • Favorite 2007-released movie, so far: My wife and I don't go to the movies very often either. But if we really want to see a movie, we'll buy the dvd when it comes out. This year, High School Musical 2 and Harry Potter: Order of the Pheonix were excellent, even when compared to their respective predecessors, and both of which I got for Christmas, and both of which we watched within the last 4 days.
    Favorite non-2007 movies seen for the first time this past year: I consider it extremely unfortunate that the only non-2007 movie I watched this last year was Network. It was strange, dark, and deep. You kinda have to be in the mood for it. I wasn't. Other than that, we watched some films put out for kids by National Geographic done by the Kratt Brothers. Even for adults, those were fantastic!
    Favorite Books I've read this year: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was by far the best. Other than that, I was reading things like Administrative Accounting, Administrative Finance, Marketing, Intro to Business...etc. Not to take anything at all away from how well-written HP was, but obviously ANY book would have taken top spot over college textbooks!
    Favorite TV Shows to Watch: CONFESSION TIME...my favorite TV show is one I never got to watch live. I watched on it Google video or youtube and it's a British show called X-Factor. How addicted to that show I was!
    Favorite Song: I have no idea what songs came out this year! I'm a talk radio junkie. But there were some seriously hysterical political parodies that came out.
    Favorite New CD: Paul Potts, One Chance. Yeah baby!
    Favorite Podcast: Um...I got nothin' for this one.
    Favorite Webcomic: Ditto from above.
    I can't wait to finish school so I can be more productive with my multi-media intake!
  • I'm glad you liked it. I'm regularly blown away by these talks. The archives are well worth checking out as well. here's one of my favorites.

  • Favorite 2007-released movie, so far: I almost never go to the theaters as well. I don't miss it at all. I also don't watch that many movie DVDs. In fact, I think I've only seen two '07 movies. Thus a favorite is easy to pick: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
    Favorite non-2007 movies seen for the first time this past year: Hmm... Who Killed the Electric Car.
    Favorite Books I've read this year: I finished The System of the World: Volume 3 of the Baroque Cycle in '07, but started in '06. If that doesn't count, then The God Delusion. You can see my entire '07 reading list here
    Favorite TV Shows to Watch: Mythbusters or The Daily Show
    Favorite Song: My favorite song of '07?!? That's really tough. I may end up posting about this one...

    Favorite 2007-released movie, so far: No Country For Old Men. Went totally blind to it (other than knowing it was a Coen flick) and was blown away.
    Yuma was a very close second.
    Favorite non-2007 movies seen for the first time this past year: Pan's Labyrinth also.
    Favorite Books: I honestly don't read enough so I'll have to think on this one.
    Favorite TV Shows to Watch: I don't watch normal TV either...hence: Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Daily Show/Colbert combo hour. What I saw of Dexter I liked, but I can't call it a favorite.
    Favorite Song: "Still Alive" by GLaDOS (Portal OST) written by Jon Coulton
    Favorite New CD: I really can't answer this one right now. Maybe after some thought.
    Favorite Podcast: I don't listen to 'casts.
    Favorite Webcomic: The Perry Bible Fellowship
