Sucking hard…

at being a blogger and NaNoWriMo-er. No writing of any kind this weekend. I’m flying to California on bidness Wednesday and hope to get some writing done at some point between then and Friday when I return. We’ll see.
Food for thoughts:
I think Hillary crying sexism is pretty funny, but is she right when she intimates that being sexist in this country is easier than being a racist? I think so.
Olympians won’t be able to carry any religious items into the Olympic village in China. I’m not surprised, I’m not even angry. I’m something I’m just not sure what.
The writers strike hurts good shows and helps crap (reality) shows. I’m not a big fan of unions and strikes and in this case I think that if writers are so worried about their monetary future I think that they should be creating it instead of clinging to DVD sales. Still they are in some sense fighting the power and so rock on with your bad selves.
The JLA movie will rawk hard as will Iron Man. Don’t pinch me.
Why do people inist on building houses where they know they will burn down/blow away?

    If people only built houses where there were no natural disasters possible, where in the world would they build? There is danger everywhere, if you’re in the SE, it’s hurricanes. The NE, snow, ice and possibly hurricanes now (thanks global warming). The West, fires and floods. The Midwest, tornadoes and drought. I could go on across the globe.
    As for the Olympics thing, I think it’s a stupid move considering athletes are a superstitious bunch, and anything from dirty socks to an upside down cross burned onto a mystic, kryptonite gem could be the difference between a gold and a bronze medal. Limiting them is just silly and I don’t think it’ll stop them anyway.
    As much as I think the WGA should renegotiate their contracts, and deserve a cut more than 3 cents on the dollar, a strike is going to deprive me of some of my shows, and dumb down TV for the next 6 months. This sucks, and I blame the studios.
    Be careful in Cali. Take your asbestos underwear.

    Well of course folks can’t prevent natural disasters, but if you live in the “fire zone” you need to build your house out of fire resistant materials and not cedar shakes (no matter how pretty they are) and clear a fire break around your house. If you live on the beach your house should be a good piece back and on stilts. And that’s whether the law requires it or not. If your house blows down, burns up, or sinks and you haven’t taken basic precautions you should be out of your own pocket.
    As far as my underwear goes I prefer Nomex. It doesn’t itch as much.

    Try as I might, I just can’t bring myself to give a damn about the writer’s strike. Perhaps it’s because I consume so very little of what they produce.
    While I agree with Patrick that it is impossible to build homes were there are no natural disasters, it’s foolish to build homes were natural disasters are frequent. Southern Cal burns every year! As Scott pointed out, take precautions based on the threat. Oh and the government shouldn’t subsidize or replace insurance for disaster-prone areas, if you ask me. Let the owners bare the full cost of insuring themselves and most would move out at the first opportunity.
