Eight Things

Okay so I’ve been tagged by Bear (which makes me giddy, no one ever tags me) to do the “Eight Things” meme. I’m keepin’ it light because there are many things I could put here that aren’t ready for prime time. So without further adieu here are eight things you don’t know about me.

1) At the tender age of eight, I and a friend of mine set a HUUUGE grassfire. I distinctly remember trying to put it out by filling my sneaker with water and using that. I also recall running like mad when I discovered that that didn’t work and the spanking I got from Mom.
2) I went to my senior prom with my ex-girlfriend and we doubled with my best friend and his girlfriend (whom I had an intense crush on). I do not recommend this as a course of action. Bad for one’s self esteem.
3) I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was nineteen. I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was twenty-five. Needless to say, I walked a lot in college.
4) I recieved a citation for shooting off illegal fireworks. For that I did community service at a women’s shelter cutting kudzu and working on their computer.
5) I’ve been baptized twice. I’m still not sure that that second one “took”.
6) I was big into role playing games both in high school and college. My favorite RPG is Champions and I take my most common username from a guy whose power was the ability to change into a giant koala with super strength.
7) I preached a number of sermons for a Methodist church we attended in Greenville. I love getting up and speaking in front of people. 8) I utterly failed at student teaching. My cooperating teacher asked me to be removed from the program. I latter found out from my wife through the teacher’s grape vine that she (the teacher not my wife) had accused me of cussing out one of my classes.
Tagging Two Guys, RC, Gray, and really anyone else that’s reading this.

I took my ex-girlfriend (whom I still had interest in) to the prom Junior year as well. She broke up with me after we had agreed to go together, so we decided to go ahead. Oh, and she was on crutches. I agree with your sentiment, not much fun.

Yeah. Of course suffering does have rewards, but it’s hard to know that at the time.
