Softball

And lo, it was said that a sign of the end times would be Scott getting off of his increasingly large buttocks and join an organized sports team. Yes I am a member of my company’s slow pitch team and here is my number:

My first game is Thursday. Huzzah!! Praise the Lord and pass the Bengay.

    Now. Have you read any Wodehouse? Douglas Adams said that Wodehouse was the finest comic writer ever…and he’s right!!

    Sadly, no. I have a history of binging on junk food whenever I go to the library/used bookstore. Gonna add him to my amazon list I am. Any particular faves?
    Also I haven’t read any Adams in a loooooooooong time.

    Hmmm.. For a complete Wodehouse newbie… I’d say Leave it to Psmith, or Summer Moonshine, or any of the Jeeves books. The short stories about Mr Mulliner are tremendous fun, too. It’s all good!
    You know…I just saw in my church newsletter that they’re getting a team together. I’ve never played sports. Despised them, actually, Except volleyball – I LOVE volleyball. But my life has changed so much…(I’ve lost 65lbs, dontcha know) I’m actually considering it! After all, they said you don’t have to have talent! (grin!)

    I love softball, but I’m too chicken to actually get on a team. I played on a league we had at church a couple of years ago (just for fun with in the church) and had a blast.
    BTW – I love DA, he was a genius at the interwoven plot. Have you read his Dirk Gently books? Good stuff, although the first one starts off rather slow as he starts something like 4 different plot threads and then weaves them and resolves them like only DA can. I’ll have to check out Wodehouse sometime.

    Ah softball. A marvelous pastime. I’ve always enjoyed being the catcher. I used to unnerve the batters in my old church league in Raleigh. I kept creeping closer to them, eventually pushing them out of the batter’s box in one case. Those were the days. Of course, I couldn’t hit and I was/am slow, so there was great delight in getting me out.
    Here in O-town, I just enjoyed getting out. I play the ultimate worst player’s position: right field. I haven’t been able to play for the last two summers with kids and all. I haven’t played football either. :( Maybe this summer will be different.
