Great episode! It answered a lot of the issues I brought up in a previous episode. I would agree with much of what you talked about. The portrayal of sex in the media is far too often unhealthy. And I'm in complete agreement with the 'juicy' comment. That and two-piece bathing suits on toddlers. Disgusting! I find it incredible bad taste on part of the parents.

I'm with you, Scott, when it comes to men expecting sex from their wives when they don't feel like it. If you can't get full-service, just visit the self-service pump. ;P Of course, that's a big no-no in Christianity. Perhaps that explains why Christian men are desperate enough to overlook their wive's desires.

I, of course, don't believe there are no spiritual components or consequences for sex (there's no spiritual components to anything), but I do believe there is a too oft ignored emotional component. That's reason enough to take it seriously. Liberal morality's "prime directive" so to speak, "do no harm", comes into play. The emotional harm done when cheating renders the act immoral.

Here, though, I would like to take a close look at the definition of cheating. I actually don't consider the act of sex outside of a marriage to be the source of the cheating. For me, it's the emotional betrayal that constitutes the cheating. Thus it's possible to cheat on a spouse without ever having sex. In fact, I would consider a non-physical love infatuation to be worse than a one night fling. Both are emotional betrayals, but the former is much worse because of its duration.

Is that the kind of feedback you were asking for?

"I find it incredible bad taste on part of the parents."

I will say that when it comes to shopping for kids, if your options are limited (or you limit your options) it can be hard to find "respectable" clothing. It's sort of a vicious cycle. Not a defense though.

"If you can't get full-service, just visit the self-service pump."

Okay both my wife and I LOL'd at that.

"that's a big no-no in Christianity"

I have mixed views about that. Masturbation can be a healthy form of release. It can also be problematic like any other for of sexual expression. But yeah, overall Christianity isn't down with it.

"Perhaps that explains why Christian men are desperate enough to overlook their wive's desires."

Nah, they're just pigs. ;-)

"I do believe there is a too oft ignored emotional component. That's reason enough to take it seriously."

Agreed.

"In fact, I would consider a non-physical love infatuation to be worse than a one night fling. Both are emotional betrayals, but the former is much worse because of its duration."

On that you and I and Christ might well agree.

"Is that the kind of feedback you were asking for?"

That's a good start. :D
