Real Life Superheroes - digg this
According to this article and this video (no embedding available) there are real life superheroes out there patrolling the streets and "doing good". In this case it's the Black Monday Society.
For the most part doing good seems to mean helping the homelss, eliciting smiles, and trying to project a presence in places where crime is an issue. In most cases they aren't out there getting into fights or encouraging vigilantes.
I think that's a pretty cool thing, if a bit odd, and while I don't think I'd ever do anything this extreme (yes honey I heard your sigh from here) I think more people need to do things like this. Get involved in your community. If you're a Christian you definitely need to be putting these sorts of practices into action. We are called to care so much that people think we're strange.
The striking thing about this group is the fact that they've taken such... mean identities, though the individuals themselves seem largely meek. I mean you've got skeletons, demons, ghosts. I get the whole "striking fear" thing, though really it sounds like they get more laughs that anything else. I'm not laughing though. More power to them.
