Movie Meme - digg this
Rey put this meme up at his blog, but poor soul tagged no one. So naturally I decided to tag myself. It was originally posted at the Good News Film Reviews page, a page I might be bookmarking for later perusal.
Which actor do you think hasn’t gotten the attention he/she deserves?
Dwayne Johnson. Okay are you done laughing? It’s not so much that he hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves, but I’ve said for years that he should be the next Arnold. He’s gotten/chosen some awful scripts, but then again I heard good things about his roles in Be Cool and Get Smart. I think he delivered well in The Scorpion King and Walking Tall. He has metric tons of charisma. According to IMDB he will be playing Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam movie and while that may be sheer rumor I’d buy that for a dollar. I understand taking parts in uber-Disneyfied movies, I mean a man’s gotta eat. I just hope he has a serious breakout role.
Also I could say much the same about Vin. I loved him in The Pacifier and he owns Riddick. I think Hannibal will be telling.
Boy that makes he look a little gay doesn't it? ;-)
What is your favorite movie line?
Both based on my tendency to use them in real life.
“What we got here is... failure to communicate.” – Cool Hand Luke
“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” – Princess Bride
What are the absolute worst movies you’ve ever seen?
See I’m a bit of a soft touch when it comes to movies, so movies that others abhor I often enjoy and sometimes it works in the other direction. There are movies that others like that I just don’t.
Blair Witch Project – This movie bored me to absolute tears. I can’t forgive that in a movie that’s supposed to be scary and/or tension filled.
Any Saw movie after the first one – While I didn’t “like” the first one, I went in blind and it was like getting punched in the gut, time after time with a razor studded glove, at least it went in, did what it needed to do, and got out. One was enough. And while I haven’t actually “seen” any of them after the first one other than snippets here and there I’m going on faith.
Is there a movie you hated when you first saw it and then later had to admit you were wrong?
I really can’t think of any off the top of my head. I suppose there have been movies that I questioned going to see, but saw them and enjoyed them (Black Snake Moan). There are certainly movies that I have seen, been “meh” on and then enjoyed more on the second viewing, and there have also been movies that I’ve seen, enjoyed, watched again and questioned why I had liked it the first time (I suspect that the Transformers movie would fall into the category).
What is your biggest guilty pleasure movie - the one you’re ashamed you enjoy?
Van Helsing. Yeah it could have been better, TONS better, but every time I watch it I enjoy the heck out of it. I shouldn’t enjoy it because it could be so much better, but I refuse to let that stand in my way.
I'll tag Sorro/Forro, George, and Strange Culture, though of course if you read this feel free to respond on your blog or the comments.

Which actor do you think hasn’t gotten the attention he/she deserves? -- The Rock? You are funny. I think that these celebrities get too much attention.
What is your favorite movie line? I like the Cool Hand Luke line but I think that my favorites probably come from the Terminator and Dirty Harry movies.
What are the absolute worst movies you’ve ever seen? American Beauty was awful.. Rocky 5, Batman and Robin, and Godfather 3 have to be in there when it comes to disappointments. Saw Juno over the weekend and wasn't too impressed.. guess it is all the hyped up expectations around these movies that disappoint.
Is there a movie you hated when you first saw it and then later had to admit you were wrong? License to Kill
What is your biggest guilty pleasure movie - the one you’re ashamed you enjoy?
Die Hard or Lethal Weapon movies
What keeps bringing me back to Saw isn't the gore and graphic violence, but the psychology behind the main villain. Jigsaw is as complex as any character in Batman's rogues gallery, his motivation as a dying man teaching others to not waste their lives through elaborate Rube Goldberg-esque traps. Each film has brought new twists and fleshed out his origins, although I think it would have worked better as a trilogy. By 4 they were starting to stretch certain things, and I'd say 2 or 3 are my favorites. We'll see how the final 2 chapters play out.
I'm not laughing at Dwayne Johnson, either. After Arnie passed him in the Rundown, I took that as the official passing of the torch. Why he went on to make his own Kindergarten Cop in the form of that football movie or take a supporting role in Get Smart I don't know. I have been reading the Black Adam thing for some time now though, and I'm hoping it's true.
Thanks guys!
MCF I see what you're saying about Saw, but it's just too much for me.
Agree on the Rock 1000%. Problem is, he's developed some sort of role model/moral code. What the world needs is for him to make a solid, hard R action flick. What we are gonna get is more crap. So sad. That Arnold, passing-the-torch scene in "The Rundown" was supposed to be an important moment. Unfortunately, he was passing the Kindergarten Cop torch instead of the Terminator/Total Recall torch.
I don't think I've ever seen a movie starring the Rock. I did see the much hyped appearance that he made in the Mummy 2. Which I think lasted for all of what seemed to be 30 seconds.
Maybe I'll give him a chance and watch one of his movies, but it will probably be some time till I get to it.
