Steampunk - digg this

is "all the (internet) rage" these days. There's the geeky steampunk Star Wars rip off homage that I've linked to in the past. My favorite Sci Fi podcast has had a steampunk story recently. Now I'm hearing of two movies that have been in the works for quite some time that may be coming to fruition.

Hey I'm not gonna pooh-pooh it given that I NEVER thought we'd see Iron Man/Spider Man/Batman done so doggone well and all within a few years, not to mention LOtFR. So without further adieu I present links to and pictures from the projects.

Steam Wars

From the creator:

I see STEAM WARS as clearly as if it's being projected--a tough, gritty, colorful but realistic live-action adventure with a wry sense of humor. Yes, I said realistic. It's my intention that the steam rigs not be treated self-consciously. I'm not tracing a history of steam warfare-- when the story opens we are thrust into the middle of a battle. I see these not as robots but as fighting machines like tanks or submarines, manned by crews who approach their specified tasks as a normal workday--and we'll see their operation down to the smallest detail. The Victorian conceit here just happens to be that war is fought in these eccentric walking battleships. In introducing this single fantastic element, it's important to me to remain matter of fact, with a technology that seems right for the period.

MORAV -

MORAV is an action/sci-fi story that features amazing technology and massive armored robots embroiled in a corporate war for control of the country of Tangri Island. A non-stop action adventure story, MORAV centers on its characters as they struggle for personal and political freedom.

While MORAV’s excitement comes from the massive 30-foot tall robots, it is a dark and gritty action-filled military drama seeped in sci-fi overtones. MORAV also captures the political and sociological undercurrents of what are going on today in places like the Middle East as well as capturing the dynamics of the China/Thailand situation. While keeping the sci-fi elements to the story exciting and realistic, MORAV is a non-stop action adventure that will excite for years to come.
