..but does it run Vista?

It would but why would you want it to?

Dunno.. maybe you would want to access a server on your network or run some cheap software :)

Wow. Now that's thin! I'm just not a Mac kinda guy, though. Maybe it's just the long years of using Windows, but I find it difficult to operate Macs.

Try again. It's surprisingly more user-friendly than Windows. And network access is a breeze.

Well considering you can access any Windows share that you want and most Macs come with all the software most users need, I don't see those as really pertinent complaints. But as I just see, Pat already leapt to Macs defense abley.

And Casey there is a little bit of a learning curve, but I think you could handle it. Plus most MS software is available for Mac so if you REALLY want ot use MS Office you could. Odds are you're probably using a better email and browser software already (Thunderbird/Firefox) and if you are those are freely available for Mac. And if you don't want to pay for/use MS Office, Open Office is free and iWorks which is pretty cheap recognizes MS Office file formats.

The guy on our church staff with a Mac can access neither the printers or the server on our network since he loaded Leopard.. you think that Leopard would have remembered his previous settings?

In my limited experiences with Mac's it seems that people that just want to do email, office type functions and browse the internet spend a lot of extra money just to be cool.

I think the same way about the iPhone and iPods though.. I am zero percent addicted to Apple :)

Well as I've never upgraded a Mac OS I can't say what Leopard should or shouldn't have remembered. All I know is that setting up file sharing on my home network and on our network at work so that a Mac could access it was easy enough.

And if you want a Mac that can do those basic things you can get a Mac Mini for 6-700 bucks which is just as cheap as any desktop I'd buy. And laptops are reasonable enough too.

I can't explain your feelings about iPhones or iPods at all since I love both and see that Mac is constantly innovating. Plus they're cool, ;-)

You got me inspired so I posted a few videos that I know that you will enjoy :)
