A New Look - digg this

Yeah that's what this paper really needs to stand out from other... plain... white... copy paper. NEW PACKAGING!!!
And the use of eyeballs as the double oo in LOOK, edgy. And it's "COMING SOON!"
I could make a point here about how we as Christians constantly try and repackage our faith to make it "relevant". But I won't. We do though and it's just as stupid.

Marketers will be marketers. Sometimes they will be Christian marketers who don't want to keep those aspects of their lives separate. In fact, isn't the evangelical imperative similar to a marketer's core function: spread the message?
On a related note, one of my favorite all-time books is Inferno by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It's a remake of Dante's classic. It's about a science fiction writer who dies and finds himself in Dante's Hell and decides to follow a mystery man down Dante's path to escape. The most interesting part of the book was where Niven and Pournelle placed those who committed new sins. One group of new sinners was marketers. The protagonist found them stuck in human excrement with the flatterers. Quite an appropriate category, even if the punishment doesn't fit.
Spreading the message I don't have a problem with. Gilding the lily I have a problem with. Changing a message that's been relevant for (almost) 2000 years to make it meet someone's idea of what's relevant I have a problem with.
I can see what you mean. I find marketing quite transparent anymore. The gold on the lilies just look silly to me. It amazes me that it sometimes works.
I'm so nestled in Satan's bosom I don't even know what you're referring to.
