Hello Scott,
Congratulations. It seemed a successful test. Will you be posting future podcasts on your blog, or should I keep an eye out for them on garageband? I'm looking forward to more. Are the topics addressed going to be as varied as your blog? That would be cool.
I have yet to see Blade Runner. Is sounds like I'd like it a lot. Most of my DVD suggestions are old and you've probably already purchased them.
My wife and I will be celebrating the New Year over at our NC surrogate family's house. I hope you enjoy your DVD-filled evening.
I do have some comments about audio quality. The first, of course would be to try to reduce background noise. I noticed three distinct background noises. Kids, clicking/squeaking item (chair?), and white noise. I'm sure the first is going to be a challenge with young kids in the house (they sound adorable, by the way). But the other two are manageable, I imagine. Just stop using the clicking/squeaking item and use a post-recording denoising.
The editing can use a little work as well. I have some experience as a audio producer and have a small home studio. If you are interested, I'd be happy to assist you with editing and sound quality work. My experience is entirely with music, but I'm sure many of the skills transfer. Lastly, I could compose some some original music for your podcast. Again, that's only if you are interested. Just let me know!
Thanks! I do plan on podcasting some original fiction and I covet any help you could give, be it music or engineering.
The squeaking was a chair and I'll be using a different one going forward. I dl's Audacity and will try running future casts through it or using it instead of Garageband.
I ended up getting the Bladerunner ultimate five disk set. It's a must see for you. I also got a Marx Bros. collection that was a great deal.
Sure, Scott. Let me know when you've recorded your next one and send me the unedited wav file or put it online and send me the link. I'll see what I can do with it.
Bladerunner is on my short list now. Thanks!
