Really bad movies... - digg this

Over at The Fake Life we've been discussing really bad cinema. We pitted the following movies against each other:

Superman IV vs. Star Trek V
Godzilla ('98) vs. Van Helsing.
Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones vs. The Matrix: Revolutions
Batman & Robin vs a bunch of really truly terrible films (Catwoman, Highlander 2, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, Alien: Resurrection, and Troll 2)

After a winnowing process we landed on Superman IV, Van Helsing, Attack Of The Clones and Batman And Robin as being the worst of the bunch (not necessarily of all time). Of those four we're now talking about which one would be the baddest of the bad. What's your opinion? Or if you can think of a worse film than those (made somewhere in the last twenty years or so) what would it be?

Worst film of the past 20 or so years? The Matthew Broderick version of Godzilla would be my choice closely followed by the Willie Nelson bomb, Red-Headed Stranger.

Yeah I voted for Godzilla being worse than VH but was in the minority. Not by much though.

I actually enjoyed Van Helsing...is that bad?

I liked "Attack of the Clones." "Revolution" (1985) with Al Pacino was truly terrible. Another nominee is the 1982 TV-movie "Member of the Wedding."

I saw "Spice World" in the theater.

i have to say that you left out one really bad flick, "Ghostbusters 2". also i like "Van Helsing" better then most monster movies, and in my personal oppinion "Attack of the clones" was way better then either of the Matrix sequels.

My main problem with Van Helsing (also League of Extraordinry Gentlemen) is that they had so much potential and such a good pedigree that they completely ignored in an effort to inject all this CGI whizbangery. So while I did have fun with both movies, in looking back they could have been so much more.

And Rock I'd keep that whole Spice World thing under your hat. ;-)
